The Asian Coalition--a Good Cause, but Not Good for Animals or the Environment!

I love going to the Asian Coalition dinner because of the wonderful people I get to see.  We have fun and, in spite of the noise, we even have some good conversations.  It's also for a very good cause:  scholarships for students!

But the Asian Coalition doesn't seem to be aware of  the movement to a plant based diet or why people who can "eat anything" choose not to.

I wish there were a greater awareness of animal suffering in factory farms and of the negative effects livestock has on the environment.

This is what the Asian Coalition offered at the King Wah restaurant on April 27:

An assorted platter--all meat except for a corner of seaweed
Honey walnut prawns
Tofu soup with dried scallops and corn
cubed steak in Teriyaki sauce
Mushrooms with broccoli--eureka
Cantonese style crispy chicken
Fresh bean curd with pea sprouts--delicious
signature lobster
seafood friend rice
dessert of the day

The two plant-based dishes were delicious and copious, and there was plenty of tea and wine, so I didn't go hungry, but it would be nice if people were aware of the movement to plant-based.
