We celebrated Tom's birthday (belatedly) at Shizen, but we really didn't begin with dessert! Tom had a happy ending, but Bill had the "Surprise Ending," the roll that turns out to be very, very hot, requiring a particular liquid to put out the fire. (This is better than Russian Roulette.) Shizen was voted the Best Japanese Restaurant in San Francisco--worthy of Tom, who's studying Japanese, and Bill--and it's plant-based! The shirt I wore volunteering on this Pride Weekend explains the significance of that!
